So today’s earworm absolutely has to be Steam’s “Kiss Him Goodbye”.
I am mad as hell at this week, and I still have two bloody days to go. So I’m focusing on beauty.
Also on wine.
I’ve started noticing leaves on the ground this Autumn, because they don’t lose their beauty when they fall.
You didn’t think I’d express my gratitude for this season without photos, did you?
Because I have many of the brilliant
colors nature puts on for us.
Have I said lately that I’m grateful for Autumn? If I have, it’s worth repeating.
I love the crisp mornings—temps in
the 40s and 50s are perfect for my walks. Google Fit is always happy with my
brisk pace and the distance I cover. The air is fresh, but doesn’t freeze my
lungs, birds are happy to greet the day and the occasional chipmunk crosses my
path.
Days have warmed up—to the 60s
and even 70s this past weekend. With the exception of one day, though, humidity
is a thing of the past, so afternoon walks are absolute joy.
A couple of times I’ve had my
patio door open, so I can listen to the birds settling down as I have my
dinner. I can’t tell you how much that makes me smile.
And at night my bedroom window is
open so the crickets and their pals sing me to sleep.
How could I not be grateful for
all this?
One of the most creative musical icons of my lifetime turned 81 yesterday. And I’m struggling to pick just one of his songs for today’s earworms. But when someone I follow on Twitter mentioned Paul Simon, my mind immediately went to “Slip-slidin' Away”, so here we go.
On my walk yesterday morning, I saw some clouds that looked different from what I’m used to. They basically looked like some hotshot jet jockey had been out making contrails.
But I don’t think they
actually were—because here’s an actual contrail for comparison.
Regardless, they were beautiful.
I was taking a morning spin around the Beautiful Faux Downtown People’s Republic yesterday and noticed this in the window of one of the boutiques:
I’m not even OCD and this would
drive me crazy every time I had to pee. Who thought it was a good design idea?
Here are some bushes that the cut-it-to-the-ground crowd missed along the W&OD Trail.
Dunno what they are, but their
berries are changing color.
I don’t know who has ordered it, or why, but workers over recent weeks have razed trees and shrubbery along the W&OD Trail in the People’s Republic.
So I’m very grateful that I got these shots of bees enjoying thistles one morning.
Because this is what that stretch along the trail looks
like now.
