Many miles away

Eva Cassidy seems right for Autumn. Perhaps because her voice was so mellow and warm. She took possession of every song she sang; gave it life, cradled it, brought us into the firelight.

Here she is singing Paul Simon’s “Kathy’s Song”.

Vegetable art

I got this zucchini from the farmers market last week, and I was almost sorry to have to slice it up to, you know, eat it.

Falling

We haven’t yet got to the real leaf-turning stage of post-Summer here in the District They Call Columbia. And it’s hard to predict what kind of Autumn we’ll have, since Mother Nature is pretty pissed off at us.

But I noticed some harbingers, from the maple family, and I’m sharing with you.

Fa la la la la

Right, by last week Costco had cleared out their Halloween décor (which was there from July) to make room for Christmas merchandise. I mean, we've barely made it into pumpkin spice season.

Yay.

Gratitude Monday: beginnings of Autumn

We finally got a break in the heat over the weekend. A couple of storms came through, starting Friday in the People’s Republic, which cracked the 90-degree temperatures.

Humidity is still in the use-your-gills spectrum, so my morning walks were slimy, but at least not hot-and-slimy.

And for that, I’m truly grateful.

Also—morning clouds have been wonderful.
