Books along the banks

While I was in Lyon a couple of weeks ago, I walked along the embankment of the Saône on Sunday. I was just too late for the food market; that was upping sticks as I arrived. But booksellers were out in force—as they are along the Seine in Paris, where the sellers are called bouquinistes.

Here’s the thing: their “shops” are permanent fixtures. I assume they some kind of rent to store their inventory in these presumably watertight contraptions.
