Mission bells ring

Today is Saint Joseph’s Day, which about as many people know as who know that 17 March is also Saint Gertrude’s Day. Joseph is the patron saint of engineers, carpenters, the Church Universal, families, those in doubt, the dying and Vatican II.

The day, 19 March, is also when the swallows return annually to the Mission of San Juan Capistrano, in California. (I mean, a few are generally spotted before the day, but this is their official “return”.) So in their honor, today’s earworm is “When the Swallows Come Back to Capistrano,” with the Ink Spots.

Tbh, I am not really feeling this song; there a lot more from the 40s that I can get into. But it’s day-appropriate, so I’m going with it.
