Caveat: we don’t know
exactly when Ludwig van Beethoven was born, but today is the generally accepted
date for celebrating his birth.
Beethoven didn’t write
anything specifically ascribed to Christmas, but in his Missa Solemnis there is the “Gloria”. And deeply embedded in the
Christmas story is the chapter of angels declaring to the shepherds, “Gloria in excelsis Deo”. So let’s have
that:
