Brotherly love

I’ve had the Smothers Brothers on my mind recently. If you never experienced their unique performance style, you missed something special.

So today I’m giving you one of their renditions of “My Old Man”. The original (as they explained in one of their performances, which doesn’t appear to have made it to YouTube) was a British music hall song called “My Old Man’s a Dustman”. Tommy and Dickie took that and ran circles around it, as only they could.

(WARNING: there is a segment that would be out of bounds in our times. Back in the day it pushed boundaries and inserted a note of social discomfort that the brothers got away with because of all the foolishness that surrounded it. God bless 'em.)
